Speaking at WordCamp Miami 2020

I am very happy to announce that I was selected to speak at the 2020 edition of WordCamp Miami!

Miami is one of my favorite WordCamps, and an absolute must-visit every year. I’ve been attending since 2015, which was also my first year as a speaker. This will now be my 5th time both attending and speaking at one of the biggest WordCamps in the country.

A New Kind of Topic

This year’s topic is a bit different for me. In the past, my WordCamp talks have focused on either development & business topics or sharing personal stories. I’m branching out this year with what I feel is an important topic – privilege. Last week’s post was not an accident, but the intentional beginning of sharing my thoughts on the matter as I prepare my talk.

So far, my thoughts on the topic have been well-received. I hope that continues. I do expect some will be made uncomfortable by what I have to say, though that is certainly NOT my intention. My hope is that by sharing this topic, we as a community can further the discussion on how various forms of privilege affect both the WordPress and web development communities.

Get Your Tickets

Tickets are still available for the camp, which is just under a month away now. It sells out every year, so don’t wait until the last minute! If you’re coming from out of town, act quickly in booking the hotel room too. This time of year is always busy for Miami.
